I grew up in one of the most vibrant African American cultures in the US, Milwaukee’s north side. However, over the years, the city has suffered from desolation and destruction, and it’s been difficult for me to witness its decline. But I am grateful that God has called me to rebuild the ruins and serve the community until He calls me to glory.
My childhood was relatively normal until I entered junior high school when gangs became more prevalent in the city. My father had left us when I was young, and I followed in the footsteps of my older brothers. I found myself straddling between education and the streets, trying to make ends meet for my family. After several years of living a dangerous lifestyle and struggling to find steady employment, I hit rock bottom.
At the age of twenty-seven, I joined the army and married my high school sweetheart, hoping to leave behind my troubled past. However, without Christ, we were doomed to fail. I was living a life of lust and arrogance, thinking that my past made me unique. But one wrong date changed everything. I was facing twenty years in prison for my mistakes. While I deeply regret my actions, I am grateful for the opportunity to find my way back to Jesus Christ.
Today, I am a new man. I am a faithful husband and father, a recent Minister at All Saints Fellowship Christian Church, and a core member of the Captive Project. I have found my passion in recording Christian rap music and desire to become a full-time minister. I love all Christian music, but rap is my favorite. My future goal is to serve the Lord in my church, the Captive Project, and to record worship rap.
